Abstract
Description
Abstract : A simple but effective classroom management technique is to allow students to create class rules. Students feel respected and valued when they have the opportunity to share ownership. Furthermore, the procedure appeals to student’s understanding of “fairness.” They are likely to follow the rules that they created and encourage others to follow suit. Some teachers feel there is too much risk in distributing power. However, by enforcing the rules that the students themselves created, a teacher should feel in control at all times. Finally, by creating a democratic atmosphere in the classroom, students can enhance their understanding of citizenship
