dc.description | Abstract : Despite the phenomenal growth in the study of information search within the service sector in recent years, there has been a scarcity of substantiate research dealing with the education sector. This paper contributes to the study of information sourcing among students in their pursuit of choosing a college. Students are being exposed with growing amount of decision-relevant information from different sources. Hence, it would be of immense value to find out which types of sources are most relied upon during their search process and what are the factors influencing their information sourcing. As a result of this study, it was discovered that market-dominated sources of information (such as college personnel and publications, college websites and visits to education fairs) were more widely used by students compared to personal sources (family and friends). In addition, building upon previous research, it was hypothesized that information sourcing is dependent upon students’ product knowledge and involvement, and differentiation among colleges. The hypotheses were tested using Multiple Linear Regression and result reveals that knowledge and involvement exert significant positive influence on sources of information. However, the result for differentiation among colleges was found to be insignificant. | |
