dc.description Abstract: Freshmen students face a lot of difficulties in adapting into college. There is relatively little research on students’ expectations and their self-perceived readiness of college students. This study is about first-year pre-college expectations and perceptions of academic readiness for higher education. We look at factors that may influence their decisions to stay or quit college within the first year. The questionnaire was adopted from Jacques van der Meer of University of Otago, New Zealand The questionnaire was developed by Ellen Jansen of University of Groningen, the Netherlands. The data was subjected to scale reliability analysis and Cronbach‘s alpha of each construct was calculated Exploratory factor analysis was used to establish validity of measurement scales. Multiple linear regressions were used to test the hypotheses.
