dc.description Abstract: In the past three to four decades, educational institutions have been bombarded with all kinds of ESL computer software and textbooks, and teachers and learners alike are in a dilemma as to how best these tools can benefit their teaching and learning. Consequently, the purpose of this study is to explain how teachers and learners of the English language can make an informed decision as to how to blend the ever-increasing onslaught of ELT computer software in the market and the traditional teacher, especially in the area of grammar. Courseware, both structured and otherwise, is here to stay, and the best bet would be to blend the best of both worlds to get the desired result. A study on a class of intermediate level of English proficiency students revealed that a blend of both CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning) and TALL (Teacher Assisted Language Learning) created an interesting learning environment through the stages of incorporating previous knowledge of a particular grammar item, teacher-directed acquired knowledge, computer courseware support, student-centred learning and real life application of the knowledge. The computer software programmes are here to stay, hence the urgent need on the part of language teachers to find innovative methods to apply this blend.
