dc.description Abstract: Due to the advances made in computer science, now there are many programs that create and support computer animation. Work has been done on the research and development of such animation in various fields. The incorporation of animation into educational materials to improve the learning experience has been contemplated and debated as some prefer the traditional learning methods. Few studies have proven that incorporating animation in the learning material can improve learners’ memory retention. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to determine if animation can improve learners’ capability to recall the facts learned and increase their motivation. The Computer Animation Software Tutorial (CAST) was designed for the learning of a topic on the solar system and it was tested on a group of students who used it and subsequently sat for a test. Another group of students which learned the same material in its text form was chosen as the control group. The test’s results and the feedback on the learning experience with CAST were collected and interpreted. The results indicated that (a) the students who used CAST performed significantly better in their tests and (b) using CAST has kept the students interested when learning the topic.
