Abstract
Description
Abstract: In recent years, much attention has been paid to heritage due to the development of visitor’s own affective senses of the past. Consequently, heritage tourism has been undergoing an evident boom across the world. In order to further enhance the development of this tourism sector, it requires an understanding of visitor’s expectations and experiences in visiting a heritage site. Previous studies indicate that heritage attraction’s physical environment plays an important role in determining visitor’s attitude towards the heritage attraction. Hence, to substantiate this finding, an exploratory study was carried out to examine the influence of visual attributes on visitors’ satisfactions towards cultural heritage sites. The objectives of the study were two fold: (1) to identify the visual attributes for cultural heritage site
(2) to examine the influence of visual attributes on visitor’s satisfaction. In this study, Kek Lok Si Temple, a cultural heritage site in Penang, Malaysia, was used as a case study where questionnaire was distributed to any visitor who had been to the mentioned site with a convenience sampling size of 277. This study helps in exploring the insights and meanings of visitor’s experience from various visual attributes in a cultural heritage site, which could be applied to future research in consumer behaviour.
